Dr. Tim Harkrider, Superintendent of Schools

Dr. Tim Harkrider

The College Station ISD Board of Trustees officially hired Dr. Tim Harkrider as the district’s Superintendent of Schools on July 6, 2023.

Since joining CSISD in July of 2023, Dr. Harkrider has focused on continuing the legacy of success in the District by strengthening academic outcomes, fostering unity, and maintaining and building lasting relationships with the broader community to support student success. Under his leadership, the District has maintained a “B” rating in TEA's accountability system, while increasing the number of campuses earning state distinctions and emphasizing a broader view of student success beyond standardized test scores.

He also guided the district through two bond elections, gaining voter approval for a historic $350 million package through four propositions: two in November 2023 totaling $299 million (general and technology improvements), and two more in May 2024 totaling $53 million (athletic improvements). For Dr. Harkrider, the results reflect more than just numbers; they're a powerful sign of College Station’s shared commitment to providing equitable, future-ready learning environments for all kids.

Before coming to College Station, Dr. Harkrider served as superintendent of Willis ISD from 2013 to 2023. Under his leadership, academic performance rose steadily, with TEA index scores improving in more than half of rated areas each year since 2016. His tenure also saw the successful passage of three bond packages—$109.5 million in 2015, $100.15 million in 2020, and $143 million in 2022—designed to meet the needs of a growing student population.

Prior to being Superintendent, Harkrider served as the Willis High School principal from 2012 to 2013. Before that, he spent five years as the campus principal at Reagan Middle School and a year as principal at Dickinson Elementary, both in Grand Prairie ISD.

He started his career in education as a teacher and baseball coach, serving stints in Mt. Enterprise ISD, Union Grove ISD, Pine Tree ISD, Kilgore ISD, and White Settlement ISD.

After earning All-Southwest Conference honors in 1992 and 1993 as a shortstop for the University of Texas baseball team, Harkrider was selected in the 8th round of the Major League Baseball draft in 1993. He spent four years playing professional baseball before an injury ended his career.

He earned his Bachelor of Science from Stephen F. Austin State University, his Master of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of Texas at Arlington, and his Doctoral Degree in Educational Leadership from Sam Houston State University.

Harkrider and his wife, Toni, have three children: Dylan, Reece, and Meredith.

Dr. Harkrider’s honors include:

  • 2025 Texas A&M University College of Education & Human Development Dean’s Roundtable Honoree
  • 2019-2020 Empowered Superintendent award from the K-12 Chief Technology Officer Council
