We have created a project-based curriculum that will push students to become creative, free thinkers who can use 21st

century technology tools to get information and communicate. This course will cover three main units, including: internet

safety, classic programs, and some of the most current online technology tools available.

All assignments will be submitted through Schoology. Our onsite and online courses will have hard deadlines for each of

the projects to ensure that students are making adequate progress. All summer classes are self-paced, and students can

submit assignments as soon as they have them completed. Teachers will grade assignments as quickly as possible and

provide a grade/feedback. Late assignments will not be accepted. Students will need to keep track of their grades and read

the teacher feedback provided to correct any missing parts in order to receive full credit for the course.

Onsite Computer Literacy (Self-Paced)

Our onsite course requires that students attend class each day at Oakwood Intermediate School and stay for the entire

session. Students will work in a computer lab but may also continue working on course assignments at home. Students

will have access to a teacher during school hours. Students will complete assignments and submit them online through

Schoology. Students with 3 unexcused absences will be dropped from the course. This option is recommended for

students who may not have access to technology or reliable internet access at home, or students who need a more

structured environment to keep them on track.

Online Computer Literacy (Self-Paced)

This course is offered completely online. Students may attend an optional orientation to help them get started with the

course on Tuesday, May 28th @ Oakwood. After that, students will not be required to attend any classes and will be

responsible for completing the assignments on their own. Students will complete assignments and submit them online

through Schoology. All assignments and deadlines will be posted on the first day of class, and students must complete

each assignment by the due date. Office hours will be offered for students to come in and work with an instructor, but

students will need to make sure they respond to instructor feedback on Schoology. This course is designed for highly

motivated students who have reliable internet access, Microsoft Office 2017 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access), Google

Apps, and a device (computer or laptop) to use to complete the course. Please note, if using a Mac computer, Microsoft

Office 2017 software is still needed. All students will be able to use Microsoft Office 365, which is available to all 5th-12th

grade students in CSISD.
