Brazos Valley Gives raises $81,000 for CSISD Education Foundation, $2,500 donated to Rock Prairie Elementary

Oct. 24, 2023 The College Station ISD Education Foundation raised over $81,000 during the 5th Annual Brazos Valley Gives Campaign which culminated in a record $1.25 million in funds donated to local nonprofits.

This year’s initiative saw substantial growth from previous years for the Foundation, bringing 75 new donors and a 100 percent increase in the total amount raised.  Funds will be used to support innovative teaching grants, Chrissy’s Closet, books for young readers and student scholarships.

“Brazos Valley Gives is a wonderful day of giving for our entire nonprofit community,” said Teresa Benden, CSISD Education Foundation Executive Director. “We are grateful and humbled by the community’s support not only of the Education Foundation but of all our nonprofits.”

As a part of the initiative, the CSISD Education Foundation entered each donor into a drawing for a chance to donate $2,500 to a CSISD teacher or school of their choice.

Rock Prairie parent Veronica Evans and her son Cody were selected from the drawing and had the privilege of donating $2,500 to Rock Prairie Elementary School's principal, Jeff Durand, for the benefit of the school.

“We’re thankful that a family we’ve known for years continues to support our school,” said Durand. “The donation gives us the opportunity to purchase much needed equipment and supplies for our campus.”

Ace Fence matched donations to the Foundation up to $2,500 and the Bryan-based Greater Texas Foundation offered a 2:1 match of up to $5,000 for eight public K-12 education foundations and school districts participating in Brazos Valley Gives.

Brazos Valley Gives is a month-long giving initiative hosted by the Community Foundation of the Brazos Valley designed to unite the region as one community, raising funds and awareness for local nonprofits during an 18-hour online giving day annually on the third Tuesday of October.
