CSISD names new director of transportation; assistant director of human resources
March 19, 2024–The CSISD Board of Trustees approved Shannon Calltharp as the district’s new director of transportation and Danielle Valadez as the new assistant director of human resources during its regularly scheduled meeting on March 19. Calltharp replaces Hector Silva, who announced his retirement this spring, and Valadez replaces Bridget Cooper, who was promoted to director of human resources last month.
Calltharp comes to CSISD from Willis ISD with nine years of experience in transportation, four of which have been as a director. Prior to her role as a director, she served as a routing specialist and lead bus driver. She currently oversees the transportation of 5,500 students, covering 154 miles each day.
Calltharp holds certifications through Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service and Texas Association for Pupil Transportation, allowing her to streamline and simplify the process for training and testing transportation personnel.
“I’m excited to be a part of the team,” said Calltharp. “I’ve had the opportunity to work with Hector Silva in the past, so I know I have big shoes to fill here in CSISD. I’m confident that with the current transportation staff and work they are already doing, we can continue the important work of getting our students to school and back home safely and efficiently.”
Valadez is returning to CSISD from Texas A&M where she served as a human resources generalist for Mays Business School. Prior to her time at Texas A&M, she spent 13 years in CSISD, serving as an administrative secretary for the business office, bookkeeper for College Station High School, then as a lead position management specialist and payroll specialist for CSISD’s human resources department.
Valadez earned her Associate of Business from Blinn College and her Bachelor of Business Administration from Tarleton State University. She also holds a certification as a Certified Texas School Business Specialist.
