Speech and debate teams qualify for state meet

CSISD Cross-Examination Teams

Feb. 12, 2024–CSISD speech and debate teams swept the District 21-5A Cross-Examination (CX) Debate Meet held Jan. 27 at Rudder High School in Bryan and qualified for the 2024 UIL CX Debate State Meet to be held March 15-16 in Austin. This is the first time in school history for College Station High School to advance to the state competition.

 

College Station High School debate teams earned the Team Champion award at the district contest, with the combined points earned by Cougar debaters Rachel Paull and Jiya Patel, who secured first place with 20 points, and Grace Clark* and Miriam Demlow*, who placed third with 12 points.

 

A&M Consolidated High School debaters Noah Kim and Andrew Li earned a total of 16 points, earning second place at the district meet. 

 

A&M Consolidated High School students are coached by Brian Alford. College Station High School students are coached by Ian Taulli and Heather Strawn. 

 

*advancing to state competition as first alternates
